I've never taken a yoga class before. How do I start?There are many ways to begin the practice of Yoga. What's important is that you take that first step by inquiring about Downtown Yoga. Downtown Yoga is dedicated to sharing the powerful benefits of Yoga with the entire community. We put so much thought and passion into providing the highest quality classes for our students. If you are brand new to yoga, start with Downtown Yoga's Complimentary Information Session. If you are still unsure, contact us by email and/or phone and we will gladly help find you perfect class for you. How do I choose which type of Yoga to try? With so many choices, can I try more than one?At Downtown Yoga we offer a variety of Yoga classes for all ages and all levels of yoga experience. It is important to us that we help you find the style of Yoga that suits your needs. Finding the right class is crucial to having a great experience and reaping the substantial benefits that Downtown Yoga has to offer. We recommend that you start with Intro classes in one style, build confidence and a strong foundation in your poses, and then take the opportunity to explore new styles and revel in the infinite possibilities that a deep practice of Downtown Yoga offers. What should I do if I just can't do a pose?We can help you select a class that is appropriate for your level of experience. But, if you encounter a pose that you are not quite ready for, the teachers will provide modifications. The teachers at Downtown Yoga are here for you, not for their personal practice. Each teacher will walk around providing adjustments and deliver a dialogue for you to enter and exit a posture safely. We will motivate you to find your edge, but we ask that you honor your body and do only what is comfortable and feels right to you. With time, you may find that you can, indeed, master that challenging pose. I've been athletic all my life, but right now I'm suffering from injuries. Can Yoga help me recover?Absolutely! PLEASE, communicate any pre-existing medical conditions or injuries to your teacher before class. Your Downtown Yoga Instructor will introduce the right modification of the posture to accommodate your needs and help you heal and recover. Can Yoga help me do this and which classes are best for weight loss?The answer is YES! Any of our Yoga classes can help you lose weight. Read April's testimonial.
