Yoga Certification

There are no experience or knowledge prerequisites for this course - only a deep commitment to oneself. Students of all levels are encouraged to use this course to either begin or continue a journey of personal exploration and acceptance, and to develop or enhance yoga teaching competencies.  Downtown Yoga’s Yoga Teacher Training program is a course of study and practice.

At Downtown Yoga, we believe your personal practice is the foundation for creative teaching.  The 200-Hour Yoga Alliance Teacher Training Program will deepen and build your personal practice as you embark on a transformational journey toward becoming a yoga teacher or learning more about yourself.

We will study functional anatomy, the physical, mental and spiritual side of asana and the benefits of effective breathing.  Moving beyond the physical side of yoga, we will have group readings and discussion about yoga philosophy, rooted in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.  The Yoga Sutras provide a living, practical model that, once understood, can be applied to all aspects of life.  Finally, we will learn the fundamentals of meditation, pranayama, and the Chakra System.

Students who complete the 200-Hour Teacher Training Program will:

  1. ·      Deepen their practice and understanding of yoga
  2. ·      Learn how to structure a well-rounded class
